Soul-jazz singer Tracye Eileen celebrates 10 years of music

Soul-jazz singer Tracye Eileen will celebrate 10 years of being a recording artist with a free show this Sunday, Nov. 14 at Buddy Guy’s Legends in Chicago, Illinois.

Eileen started her music career from scratch in 2011. The Chicago native’s original songs have received airplay on more than 220 smooth jazz stations throughout the world. Eileen’s latest single, “Sweeter With Time,” went to No. 2 on the Billboard charts as the most added song to smooth jazz radio. [Earlier this year, 360°Sound spoke with Eileen about her inspiring story].

“I feel blessed and really happy to be at this point,” Eileen said of the 10-year mark. “I’m kind of amazed actually.”

Three months ago, Eileen returned to her monthly residency at Buddy Guy’s Legends. The pandemic kept her from performing live for 18 months. Since June 2020, Eileen has been doing “Meet Me In My Parlor” live stream performances from her home on Fridays. She also does “Music Mondays” every Monday. Both can be viewed on her Facebook and Instagram pages.

The 10th-anniversary show at Buddy Guy’s will include special guest Miriam Sturm, the wife of Eileen’s musical director. Sturm recently retired from playing violin with John Mellencamp for 25 years.

Prior to the show, there will be a video presentation of the last 10 years, Eileen said.

“We’re going to be running pictures of fans and performances over the years, sharing our story and journey.”

A special CD compilation will be for sale including Eileen’s favorite songs from her three albums.

An anniversary show isn’t all Eileen has in store to mark the occasion. Eileen also plans to launch a new YouTube channel with beauty tips and advice for older women. The channel will guide women on pursuing their passions and goals as well as “the inner work” – how to deal with the inner things that affect the outer appearance, Eileen said.

“I’ve always loved beauty,” Eileen said. “I’ve been a girly girl and glam and all that kind of stuff. I want to help women to maintain and attain beauty as they mature from the inside out and the outside in.”

As for new music, Eileen’s current goal is to write and record a Grammy-winning song for release next summer.

“That’s my vision, let’s get a Grammy, why not?”
