The Skinny: The fourth album from the Atlanta hip-hop duo is among their most critically and commercially successful efforts.
Sounds like: Goodie Mob, UGK, Big KRIT, Killer Mike
Deeper Thoughts: This is arguably Outkast’s greatest record. The 24-track album, which spawned the hit singles “B.O.B.” Ms. Jackson,” and “So Fresh, So Clean,” was ranked No. 64 on Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. It’s a fun fusion of hip-hop, funk, psychedelia, electronica, and pop that’s ambitious without being inaccessible.
The Sonics: The treble is tight, and the bass is booming. Play this in your car CD player with subwoofers in the trunk and it will, to quote Big Boi, sound like “two midgets in the backseat wrasslin.”
