Description
The latest release in Bear Family’s “Destination” series, these are songs about loneliness, desperation and strokes of fate – but also about hope and dreams. With a lot of empathy, reissue producer Nico Feuerbach has compiled appropriate titles from the genres of rock-n-roll, country and R&B. This disc features many little-known recordings from the likes of Dale Hawkins, Sanford Clark and Conway Twitty. The title song, “Lonely Street,” appears in the original version by Carl Belew, as well as in the better known version by the great Gene Vincent. The extensive liner notes offer brief biographies and illustrations of each artist. Nico Feuerbach deals with loneliness with sensitivity; this is not just a random stringing together of best known recordings on the topic.
